Half a lifetime around and where did I start to learn drawing?
With books.
I really always wanted to at least be mediocre but was always kind of bad in the eyes of the world.
I started to refine my skills with the help of one book, the old version, that I would recommend everyone who wants to learn drawing AND is able to learn from books.
On amazon
It is "Drawing on the right side of the brain", resp. "Garantiert zeichnen lernen" by Betty Edwards.
It took me years because other things in life where interesting as well. I worked with the old and the new edition. The new needs too many preparations for my taste.
Just recently I realized that I left out some of the last color tasks of the "new book".
So this post is just to recommend it.
It was and is still helpful, theory as well as the practice.
I`d`say "Never give up!"
(I started the book in maybe 1997)
Right now I am working through other books. More about them in following posts.
Best wishes,
Natta

I want to take part in several contests and am working at the ideas, stories and pictures for them.
My practicing writing stopped several years ago and I not able to draw all as nice as I wish.
Huge obstacles but I don`t want to give up so I will go on.
My plans and visions are mostly greater than what I might accomplish but it makes me happy
to try :)
I spent some time in the internet as well and found great art resources that I want to share:
First full books of Andrew Loomis (of which I have one in reality!)
Books for free download
And some resources for drawing
Pixelovely Gesture Drawing: Changing pics of Figures and Animals
Artsyposes for the ones that want to draw from photos.
Similar to Pixelovely
And another one: The drawing script
I have not tried these but I will when I have finished everything for the contests that are mostly about
children books :) because I wish to improve much and faster than in the past.
To have a role model I`d suggest Algenpfleger who worked a lot and hard and became
stunningly excellent in no time:)
His progress can be found here: Tons of practice
